Senior Project Manager
Lead complex high-end builds in Boulder, mentor PMs and field teams, and protect budgets, schedules, and client trust while creating sustainable luxury homes.
The Senior Project Manager runs high-end residential projects to Tectonic’s standard and carries responsibility beyond a single project load. It is a hybrid seat: an elite PM who mentors other PMs, oversees Superintendents and field staff, owns the hardest build challenges, and leads the most complex client relationships.
The exempt base pay range for the Senior Project Manager is $110,000 to $135,000 commensurate with experience.
This role reports to the General Manager. Carries a focused personal project load – fewer concurrent projects than a standard PM – to create capacity for team leadership. Provides day-to-day leadership to PMs and Superintendents and Field staff, and escalates department-level decisions to the General Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We hire people who drive outcomes, not just wait for instructions. A Senior PM:
Sees a problem forming before it becomes a crisis and acts without being asked.
Holds trade partners, clients, and peers to a standard — directly, not passive-aggressively.
Protects margin and schedule as if it is their own money and their own name.
Manages up with facts — brings a problem with a proposed solution attached.
Picks up the phone when a call is needed, instead of hiding behind email.
Develops other people — makes the PMs and Supers around them better, not just their own projects.
Values we hire and fire on
Tenacious — relentless, high-performing, professional. Does not stop until the work is right.
Humble Ownership — accountable, collaborative, self-aware. Owns outcomes without excuses.
Authentic — genuine, transparent, direct. Say what they mean.
Collective — team-first, empathetic. Builds better together than alone.
Automatic disqualifiers
Blames the client, the GC, the sub, or bad luck without naming their own role.
Uses passive language: "was managed," "was involved in," "helped with."
Cannot recall numbers — timeline, budget, team size — from their own projects.
No evidence of developing the people around them.
Inability to function at a high level inside our tech stack. BuilderTrend, JobTread, Slack, Google Suite, Trainual, & Scribe.
REQUIREMENTS
8+ years managing high-end residential construction — custom builds, additions, and complex remodels.
Proven experience leading or mentoring Project Managers and/or Superintendents.
Track record owning budgets and schedules on $500K+ (and multi-million) projects — can recall the numbers.
Fluent in construction PM software — we run BuilderTrend, migrating to JobTread by 2027.
Excellent client-facing and internal communication; can have difficult conversations.
Comfortable navigating the ‘Triangle of Tension’ between high-end design, strict budgets, and field reality.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Takes absolute ownership of failures and builds systems so they don’t recur.
BENEFITS
We value our team. We offer:
Paid time off — 4+ weeks per year, accruing with tenure; plus unlimited unpaid PTO.
11 paid holidays.
Health insurance (100% of employee medical, dental, and vision on base plan)
401k with 5% match; company credit card; $200/mo fuel stipend.
Company laptop and phone reimbursement
Fuel reimbursement; $200/month
