At Tectonic Design + Build, our Laborer plays a vital role in the success of each project. This position supports the Carpentry Team by managing job site organization, running errands, and ensuring overall efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to high-quality residential construction.

The pay range for Laborer is $20 - $25 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Directly reports to / supervised by: Superintendent & Labor Manager

RESPONSIBILTIES

Driving & Transportation

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, tools

• Safely operate large dually pick up while hauling, maneuvering, and operating a dump trailer

• Load and unload construction materials and equipment efficiently.

• Perform monthly vehicle inspections and maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicles.

Job Site Labor & Support

• Assist with site setup, demolition, dust protection, air quality management, materials staging, and final punch list tasks.

• Keep job sites clean, organized, and hazard-free.

• Sweep and vacuum every job, check exterior surrounding areas and landscaping for any debris and make sure the sites are kept clean top to bottom.

• Check protection corner guards, floor protection, replace as needed

• Be sure extensions cords and lights are all properly organized

• Air scrubbers - new filters restage and get them running

• Organize site shelves and grab anything that can go back to shop not needed on site

• Exterior organization and clean. site fencing, signs level /plumb, stage materials in nice piles

• Check dumpsters. condense them down if possible

• Clear out trash , empty all trash cans on site, install new bags

• Check HVAC furnace filters on the jobs with central air. if dirty replace and be sure there is a case of filters onsite

• Check dust containments - rework plastic as needed

• Support carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other skilled tradespeople.

• Set up and break down job sites efficiently.

Equipment & Safety Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures while operating tools, equipment, and vehicles.

• Inspect tools, equipment, and vehicles regularly and report any issues.

• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to OSHA guidelines.

General Support

• Run errands, pick up materials, and assist with additional tasks as needed.

• Maintain the Tectonic shop’s organization and cleanliness.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Strong awareness of safe working practices and adherence to safety protocols.

• Ability to follow supervisor instructions while also thinking critically and proactively.

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

• Self-motivated, organized, and independent thinker with a strong work ethic.

Preferred

• Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or remodeling is a plus.

• Familiarity with construction tools and materials.
